Summary: The article mainly explains about fake news and how to distinguish media accuracy. Now more than ever, we are consuming different kinds of media, especially social media. People don't actually know how to critically assess and acquire reliable information if they don’t know how to identify them. This article points out two types of media spreading that indicate wrong information which is ‘Misinformation’ and ‘Disinformation’, both words are similar, just merely one letter, but it technically different from one another, intentionally. Moreover, knowing the key aspects to separate the true and fake media is essential before consuming news, starting from finding the author who published (organization, actual person), checking media outlets and designs, scanning for ‘about us’ section for subsequence information and verifying tick, these are just some notifications that people must take the lead before you misled the information from them.

Response: This author states that we are highly likely to read fake news without realizing it, and I truly agree. To encounter that issue, media companies or organizations should take serious action to debunk this fake news and promote “New Literacy 101”  to society, to be aware. I believe that once you distinguish the false or mistakes of that source, it’s time you are stepping out of that trap zone of being a media victim.

Questions: What are the positive and negative aspects of media usage (ethical use of media)? Who are the stakeholders of these media? Are they independent or objective?

  1. I am agree with the text above, people have to known and discriminate about the news. There are many news that could trick us to paid or making us confused which is true or not. I only hope in the future we might find the way to report or wash off all the sources that create fake news.
